I. Air Supply Preparation
The compressed air output from the air compressor passes through a pneumatic triplet (filter to remove water and impurities, pressure regulating valve to stabilize air pressure, and oil mist lubricator to lubricate pneumatic components), delivering the stabilized air pressure to the solenoid valve. Common working air pressure: 0.4~0.7MPa; plastic pipe: generally 0.4~0.5MPa; heavy-duty steel pipe: 0.5~0.7MPa.
II. Gripping and Clamping Process
1. The PLC sends a gripping signal, the 2-position 5-way solenoid valve reverses, and compressed air enters the rodless chamber of the cylinder;
2. The cylinder piston rod extends outward, pulling the central sliding rod forward in a linear motion;
3. The central rod connects to multiple sets of evenly distributed synchronous connecting rods around the perimeter, and these connecting rods hinge to the bases of each arc-shaped gripper;
4. The linear pulling force is amplified and reversed through the hinged connecting rods, causing all the arc-shaped grippers to synchronously retract inward;
5. The polyurethane soft pads on the inner side of the grippers adhere to the outer wall of the pipe, and the air pressure is continuously maintained, generating a constant clamping force to firmly fix the pipe, completing the gripping process.
Function of the synchronous connecting rod structure: To ensure that the opening and closing amplitude of all grippers is completely consistent, and that the pipe remains centered in the clamp, preventing eccentricity and slippage.
III. Pressure Holding and Self-Locking (Key to Unmanned Workshops)
After the material is gripped in place, the solenoid valve briefly locks the air supply, and the cylinder maintains a sealed pressure. Most clamps are equipped with pneumatic locking valves/mechanical self-locking clips: the cylinder piston rod is immediately locked the moment the air supply is cut off. Even if there is an air leak or a temporary air supply interruption, the grippers will not release, preventing the pipe from falling from a height.
IV. Releasing and Discharging Process
The PLC sends a discharge signal, the solenoid valve reverses again, and compressed air enters the rod chamber of the cylinder; the piston rod retracts, pulling the connecting rod backward, which in turn drives all the grippers to open outward simultaneously, releasing the pipe. The clamps are then lifted away from the material, awaiting the next gripping.
